Daddy Learns Spanish

Lesson 32 · Pronouns

  1. Teach

  2. Fill it in 5

  3. Say it 3

  4. Review 4

Both pronouns together

se lo

it to him / to her / to them

Say these out loud

Why it works

The person comes first, the thing second: me lo, te lo, se lo.

Before lo, la, los or las, le and les turn into se. Le lo does not exist.

Se lo mandé is two pronouns and a verb, and it is a whole answer on its own.

Why not le lo

le lo mandé esta mañana

(says nothing in Spanish)

Spanish refuses two l-words in a row. Le becomes se.

In a full sentence

  • A mi jefe se lo dije después de la reunión.

I told my boss about it after the meeting.

    Le becomes se before lo.

  • Él se lo dijo al casero por WhatsApp.

He told the landlord about it on WhatsApp.

    Le becomes se before lo.

  • Mi compañera se lo dijo al médico ayer.

My colleague told the doctor about it yesterday.

    Le becomes se before lo.
