Lesson 21 · Mood

  1. Teach

  2. Fill it in 5

  3. Say it 3

  4. Review 4

Wanting someone else to do it

quiero que vengas

I want you to come· tap the form for the whole table

Say these out loud

Why it works

One subject: quiero ir. Two subjects: quiero que vayas.

Two subjects joined by que forces the subjunctive on the second verb.

English has no que here, which is why English speakers drop it.

Why not quiero que vienes

quiero que vienes mañana

I want that you are coming tomorrow

Que + a second subject needs the subjunctive. Vienes states a fact; vengas asks for one.
