Daddy Learns Spanish

Lesson 37 · Usage

  1. Teach

  2. Fill it in 5

  3. Say it 3

  4. Review 4

Que and lo que

que / lo que

that / what

Say these out loud

Why it works

Que hangs off a noun: el correo que te mandé.

Lo que stands for a whole idea with no noun: no entendí lo que dijo.

English drops that. Spanish never drops que.

Why not que

no entendí que dijo

I did not understand what did he say

Reads as a question: I did not understand WHAT did he say. The idea needs lo que.
