Future Tense (Futuro)

Used for future actions and predictions. Formed by adding endings to the full infinitive.

When to use

  • Future actions: Mañana estudiaré español (Tomorrow I will study Spanish).
  • Predictions: Lloverá esta tarde (It will rain this afternoon).
  • Promises: Te llamaré más tarde (I will call you later).

Irregular future stems

These verbs use a modified stem in future and conditional tenses instead of the full infinitive.

Tips

  • Future is formed from the FULL infinitive + endings (not a stem). The endings are the same for all verbs.
  • Irregular future verbs change the stem but keep the same endings: tendré, vendré, pondré, saldré.
  • In everyday speech, 'ir a + infinitive' (voy a hablar) is often used instead of the future tense.
